The POWER of Encouragement!

In the day to day of your business it can be easy to miss out on some of the simple things that can drive your staff. In the spa and wellness industry you must think about your front line as they are direct reflection of you and your business. A reflection of the philosophy behind your business and vision that you wish to carry forward. The POWER of encouragement can go a long way so don’t underestimate it and use a healthy dose daily!

Stand!

When the going gets tough, the tough get going! Stand by your staff wherever possible in alliance with your business philosophy and support where at all possible.

Motivate!

Over time you’ll learn what works for different members of your team. For some it is just an encouraging word. Is there more? Do you offer a staff incentive? Extra staff trainings on sales, your product lines, customer appreciation? Staff discount? Treatment exchange program? Different things are motivating to different people and personalities!

Empower!

Include your staff in varied types of decision making where you can. Find better ways of doing things and ask for their input. Implement their ideas where you can and delegate responsibility where you can.

Invite!

Foster and all inclusive environment and support a team atmosphere. You know the saying,”Many hands make light work”. This also lends to a sense of belonging and who doesn’t want to work in a business that is achieving the extraordinary?

Reward and Honor!

Do you have systems in place to reward and honor them for special achievements or ideas that have brought success or furthered the business?

Don’t get me wrong! Encouragement is earned. It is sincere, specific, honest and should come straight from your heart. Think of someone who has been an encouragement to you. Follow their example and pay it forward and make a difference in their life and in your business!

Socially Yours,

@cadijordan I would always like this to happen at a spa with staff but I know it can be hard work when a spa is big. I think we all want to be part of a team for the greater good but it really annoys me when it’s faked. I also like my privacy and alone time on my days off to recharge myself.

Yes! So true! It has to come from the heart and be warranted. And yes, leave the staff alone on their time off to recharge ;)
