Vancouver Spray Tan

I have to start this off with “Dear 16 Year Old Me”.

I must say that I am quite excited to share this local Vancouver based mobile business with you! After watching this video go viral all over social media I was more intrigued by their offerings.  Vancouver Spray Tan  is a mobile airbrush tanning service that comes to you. On your own or for a party I was impressed with the service. It is the perfect service to have if you are going on vacation, for graduation or your wedding!

It’s important to note that a healthy tan can only come from a service such as this. Any color on the skin from the sun or UV rays is damaging. The Canadian Cancer Society states that cases of melanoma are higher by 75% in those who have used indoor tanning beds and equipment. Vancouver Spray Tan has more on your health here.

Owner Amy and I had extensive conversation about ingredients within products and a little guilt about our 16 year old selves visiting those tanning beds!  Amy saw this opportunity to provide a service that many of us are seeking. Providing an amazing service in the comfort of our own homes. Providing a service that is beneficial to our skin while giving us that desired healthy glow. Is there any preparation?

Upon booking my complimentary tan, Amy and I began our banter with a cheat sheet for me to exfoliate and prepare before her visit. It’s winter. Dead honest I’d say I had alligator skin. Amy was kind and did not agree. I followed her quick instructions to exfoliate and did so a couple of  days before. I did not use any lotions so as to allow for better penetration of the product application.

What is the product? 

Vancouver Spray Tan uses an all natural solution made with an FDA approved sugar that actively darkens the skin. This in combination with a very gentle airbrush application and I was on my way to a gorgeous glow!  Amy will tell you that the whole process takes 30 minutes but really it may take less. Amy arrived, popped up her mobile ‘tanning room tent’ and allowed me to disrobe to my level of comfort. I was warned that I may feel a little cool during the process and that my ‘tan’ would evolve over the course of the evening due to the formulation of the product working with my skin and natural oxygenation process. I have to admit I was concerned a little due to all those products I’d seen used in the past. The creams and gels that used to make people look orange and streaky! I was in good hands and had nothing to fear.

What is the process?

As mentioned, Amy set up her quick mobile tanning tent, allowed me to disrobe to my level of comfort, had me step into some sexy strapless sticky sandals and set to work. She did let me know that the solution would feel a little coolish but I followed instruction well and we were done in no time with a few turns and arm raises here and there.

I was pleased with the results and loved how natural everything looked. This photo is taken quite soon after! And lasted me 7-10 days. It really is perfect for vacation or attending a wedding. I may even have Amy back pre summer when we first get those rays of light and my white legs are sticking out from under my shorts! It is important to note here as well that you do need to apply that sunscreen wherever you are going to! If you’re going out in the sun, this is not an SPF. You need to apply, apply, apply that sunscreen!

Double Double The Book

Double Double Book ContestIt’s been awhile since I’ve had a non spa related post but I’ve been excited to share this one for awhile!   It’s no secret that I am a connector and it’s no secret that I use Social Media to do just that!

I have been chatting with Cameron Herold, @CameronHerold on Twitter, since last summer sometime.  For those not in the know, Cameron is the former COO of 1-800-got-junk and now has his own stellar business Back Pocket COO. It was right around Christmas that I decided to ask him for coffee.  I stopped myself for a moment because he seems like a busy gent and then.. I just went for it like I always do!  And we met for a visit.  Oh the things we talked about in one hour only! This man is amazing and I’m certain it’s because he has FOCUS!

One of the things that Cameron shared with me was his upcoming book launch! Already out in many countries Double Double: How to Double Your Revenue and Profit in 3 years or Less rolls out here in Canada on Saturday, April 2nd!  I had the privilege of reading an advanced copy and I’d like to share with you my top 2 take aways  and set one lucky reader up to receive their own copy!  Trust me, you are going to want to read this book!  Cameron speaks anyones language in this book and the simplicity of it can’t help but lead you to utilize all the actionable material that he covers…I’m working on it!

Take away #1: Painted Picture/Vision – what will your biz look like next year, 2yrs, 3yrs from now?!
I’ve already been able to share this with a client!  The key with this is to really get out of the now and look to the future.  Among the suggetions are, getting out of your office,  turn off the computer, Think “Where”- Not “How”& definitely think outside the box.  A few of the questions to consider from Chapter 1 are, What do you see?  What do you hear? What are your clients saying? What does the media write about you? What do the company’s financials reveal?  These are just a few of the questions that are suggested before Cameron reveals his own full Painted Picture!

Take away #2: Focused Actions for Fast Growth
The next six chapters blew my mind because they are specific and as mentioned above.. the book is full of actionable material!  These chapters go through Focused Hiring, Communication, Meetings, Marketing, Public Relations and Productivity.  I really enjoyed the chapter on Hiring because I read of unwavering focus not to compromise.  This chapter can be utilized well for the solopreneur utilizing strategic alliances!  Cameron says, ” Trust your gut: when it says no, don’t let yourself keep trying to make it say yes.  It’s always better to keep looking than to settle for a B player.”

I could write on and on really but Double Double is essentially a business coaching package all in and of itself.  Think I neglected to mention that Seth Godin had a hand in branding this sweet read;)
